Floridian Christmas

As I play at the beach I look around,
To see no snow on the ground.
In Florida we’ve got to live with sand,
And when it’s Christmas,
That’s not so grand.
Yes, we can tube and
Yes, we can ski
But not on snow,
On water, you see.
When you look out your window,
There’s no snowman to greet you there.
But you might see an alligator instead
Greeting you with his stare.
No evergreens covered
With frost and snowflakes.
Just palm trees waving their branches
Is having Christmas in Florida a mistake?
The weather’s just cool and rainy,
And ( forgive me, I tend to fret)
But down here in Florida
A cold wind’s the best we get.
But in answer to my question,
No,
Christmas in Florida is not a mistake.
What makes Christmas is not
Making gingerbread
Shopping for presents
Or any other “Christmacy” activity we
May partake.
Christmas is about the love
Jesus showed for us
When he came down and was born on Earth
And eventually shed his blood.
We can pass his love on
To friends and family
To people we don’t even know
And they don’t have to be in need.)
